Terms of Service
Last updated 14 August 2026 · version 2026-08-14
1. Who these terms are between
Timor (“the Service”) is a school management platform operated by Halidot Trading PLC, Addis Ababa, Bole, Woreda 04, House No. 001/1-04, Ethiopia (“we”, “us”).
The Service is provided to a school under an agreement with that school. If you are a member of school staff, a parent or guardian, or a student, you use the Service through your school’s account, and these terms apply to your use of it.
2. Accounts and access
- Staff accounts are created by invitation and sign in with an email address and password.
- Parent and student accounts sign in with a phone number and a one-time code sent by SMS.
- You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for activity under your account. Tell your school administrator immediately if you believe your account has been used by someone else.
- Access is scoped to your role. Teachers see the sections and subjects assigned to them; parents see their own children; students see themselves. Attempting to reach records outside your scope is a breach of these terms.
3. Whose data it is
The school is the data controller for the student, guardian and staff records it enters. It decides what is collected and why. We act as the school’s data processor: we store and process that data on the school’s instructions in order to provide the Service, and we do not sell it, rent it, or use it to advertise.
The Service lets a school record sensitive information about a child — a national identity (Fayda) number and special-need categories. Where a school chooses to record it, the school confirms it has the authority to do so under Ethiopian law and will keep it accurate. We hold it on the school’s instructions and restrict who may read it, as described in the Privacy Policy.
What this means in practice: requests to correct or remove a student record go to the school, not to us. How we handle data is described in the Privacy Policy.
4. Acceptable use
- Do not attempt to access another school's data, another family's records, or any account that is not yours.
- Do not probe, scan, or attempt to defeat the Service's security controls, rate limits, or authentication.
- Do not upload malicious files, or content that is unlawful under Ethiopian law.
- Do not use the Service to send unsolicited messages to guardians or staff.
- Automated bulk extraction of records is not permitted except through features the Service provides for that purpose.
5. Fees and payments
Where a school collects school fees through the Service, payments are processed by TeleBirr. We record the payment reference, amount and status so the school can reconcile it; we do not hold or handle the funds ourselves, and we never store card or wallet credentials.
Financial records in the Service are an append-only ledger. Corrections are made as reversing entries so that the history stays auditable — an entry is never silently edited or deleted. Disputes about a specific charge are between you and your school.
6. Messages we send
The Service sends SMS and email as part of its normal operation: sign-in codes, payment requests and receipts, and school announcements. These are service messages, not marketing, and you cannot opt out of them while your account is active — they are how the Service works. Standard carrier charges may apply to SMS.
7. Availability
We aim to keep the Service available and to keep backups, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Access may be paused for maintenance, or where a school’s account is suspended under section 8.
8. Suspension and termination
- A school's account may be suspended for non-payment, for a breach of these terms, or at the school's own request. While suspended, nobody at that school can sign in; the data is retained, not deleted.
- An individual account may be deactivated by the school at any time — for example when a staff member leaves or a student is no longer enrolled.
- On termination of the school's agreement, the school may request an export of its data. After the retention period described in the Privacy Policy, the data is deleted.
9. Liability
The Service is provided as-is. To the extent permitted by Ethiopian law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. When we do, we publish the new version here with a new “last updated” date, and you will be asked to accept it the next time you sign in. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the current version.
